Bedni bugyal tucked at an altitude of 3,354 metres above sea level is a patch of nature to savour with the eyes of a wanderer. This verdant pasture is located in the Chamoli district of Garhwal region and is quite popular amongst the trekkers. Graciously sprawling over a few acres of land, the meadows of Bedni bugyal offer a placid view for camping.
This precious meadow is located on the way to Roopkund nicknamed as “The Skeleton Lake of Uttarakhand”. The unspoiled beauty of Bedni bugyal entices the travellers from all over the globe to visit here. The trek to Bedni bugyal pass through dense coniferous forests that sprawl on its slopes. One can also see a small lake called Vaitarni famous as “Bedni Kund” located in the midst of the meadows that intensifies the beauty of this place.
Bedni Kund, is a part of Bedni bugyal which is spread over 20 sq. km in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Due to the presence of Bedni Kund, Bedni Bugyal has garnered the attention of pilgrims of Nanda Devi Raj Jaat Yatra
Apart from its landscape’s beauty, Bedni Bugyal has great religious importance as its Bedini Kund is the stopover for the famed pilgrimage of Nanda Devi Raj Jaat Yatra that is held once in every 12 years. Near the Kund blossoms the famed lotus known as Brahma Kamal that finds its mention in the Hindu Scripture as the Lotus that is in the hands of Brahma (the Creator of the Universe). Further enhancing the spiritual charm are westward located Nanda Ghunti and Trishul mountains and small temple where Tarpans are offered.
Bedni Bugyal is an important stop for the Roopkund trek. One-day halt is fixed here at Bedni for most of trekking tours via the meadow. If the veteran trekkers are to be believed, Bedni is one of the most beautiful sites for camping in Garhwal Region. Watching sunrise and the sunset at Bedni Bugyal is one of the best and unforgettable experiences for any nature lover.

The ideal time to visit Bedni Bugyal is between May and November. Post monsoon months (October and November) are indeed the best time to be here as the rain gives this place a makeover with lush greenery and blossoming of variety of flowers.
