Laxman Siddh Temple is a popular place of worship of the Hindus. It nestles in the comely vistas of Dehradun, far away from the hustle-bustle of Doon. This small temple is considered to be the cremation site of Saint Swami Laxman Siddh. He underwent austerity over here.
Since the temple cradles amidst the dense woods of Lachhiwala, it a heaven for nature lovers and bird watchers. Moreover, the vegetation consists of Sal Trees that spread over the area. One can also watch a wide variety of birds. They flock around the marshes and grassland along the Song river.

Legends:
According to a local legend, the Laxman Siddh Temple is built on the same site where Laxman, the younger brother of Lord Rama indulged in a prolong penance. He came here to seek repentance for killing the demon king, Ravana. Moreover, the temple sees a lot of visitors on Sunday. While another legend states that the temple was built in the memory of Saint Laxman Siddh, who received Siddhi here.
Fairs and Festival:
The temple hosts a grand Laxman Siddh Fair which is quite popular among the locals. Locals organize it on the last Sunday of April at the Temple. Thousands of devotees visit this temple every year to enjoy the fair and festivity. In fact, people celebrate this fair with great gusto. One can also see the diversity of various culture and customs here.

Things to do in and around Laxman Siddh Temple:
The sacred Laxman Siddh Temple is only 1.5 km away from the highway. Take the first right turn as soon as you get into the Sal forest, there is a small bridge after Harrawala. A path through the forest crossing the temple moves uphill west. Then it goes down to the Suswa river near Mathurwala swamp. You can easily reach here after crossing a 4 km stretch through one of the verdant patches of the Sal in the valley.
From here you can go back to Dehradun via Clement Town and visit the Buddha Temple. If you want to go for a picnic from temple then move along the highway until you pass across an over-head railway crossing. The first turn to the left takes a forest path that goes to the picnic spot (River Song) after a stretch of 3 km. You can enjoy picnicking here and bathe in the Song river. Some of the other nearby places to visit from Laxman Temple are Guchhupani and Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple.
How to Reach Laxman Siddh Temple:
Laxman Siddh Temple on Doiwala road is about 10 km away from Dehradun Clock Tower. It is on the way to Haridwar and Rishikesh. The temple lies in the midst of the Lachhiwala forest in Dehradun. Additionally, Available options to reach here are:
- One can easily reach here by taking the bus or taxi till Harrawala. After that, 1 km trek to the temple.
- Dehradun railway station at 9.5 km is the nearest railhead.
- Jolly Grant airport at 20 km away is the closest air connectivity to the temple.
