Swarg Ashram

Swarg Ashram bedecked on the eastern banks of river Ganga is one such ashram which is one of the oldest and popular ashrams of Rishikesh. Due to the presence of several temples and ashrams, the lively town of Rishikesh is frequently visited by the pilgrims.

Nestled in the holy city of Rishikesh, Swarg Ashram is a place for yogis and for those who are seeking spirituality. About Swarg Ashram:

Established by Swami Atma Prakash, Swarg Ashram is an institution formed to create a balance between the body, mind and soul. The ashram houses two buildings namely- Akash Ganga and Dani Kothi. Akash Ganga is a guesthouse which has a spacious Yoga hall and canteen. While, Dani Kothi is an administrative building, comprising of a dining hall that is often used as a lecture hall.

Swarg Ashram- A place for uplifting spiritual knowledge

Swarg Ashram was established by Atma Prakash for the upliftment of spiritual knowledge. It is built in the memory of Swami Vishnuanand famously known as the Kali Kamliwala (the saint with a black blanket).

The ashram comprises of residential cells, temples, cafes, shopping complexes, parks, libraries, Ayurvedic dispensaries, Meditation centres, Sanskrit schools, hotels and restaurants that are maintained by a trust called “Kali Kamliwala Kshetra”. The trust is organized and run by the followers of Swami Vishnuanand.

Facilities and Amenities offered at Swarg Ashram:

Swarg Ashram offers free stay, free breakfast and dinner to the Sadhus and Mahatmas living there. The ashram has a library that boasts a huge collection of religious, cultural and spiritual books. It also has a hospital that offers free treatment to saints, mahatmas and pilgrims. The Ayurvedic medicines given here are prepared by the experienced doctors.

The Ashram also runs a school called “Sanskrit Vidyalaya” that imparts free education and provides meals to the poor students. Modern School, another educational institution run by the ashram authority provides primary and secondary education in English and Hindi.

Religious Activities held at Swarg Ashram:

There are lots of temples and ashrams housed inside Swarg-Ashram. Several religious activities like bhajan, kirtan, meditation, aarti are held here daily. The ashram also sees several processions, holy chanting, birth and death ceremonies that are performed in this Ashram.

How to Reach Swargashram:

Swarg Ashram is located near Ram Jhula in Rishikesh. One can easily reach here on foot from Ram Jhula. Rishikesh railway station at 3 km away is the nearest railhead and Jolly Grant airport at 22 km is the closest air connectivity from here.
