Shikhar Fall located about 2.5 km from the road is one of the most pleasing destinations to visit in Doon. This tumbling waterfall feeds the city, through a connecting water line. Once the mountains near this fall saw heavy mining but Indira Gandhi banned it in the 1980s. The waterfall was massive in its younger years. But it has now been reduced to its current size.
Best time to visit Shikhar Fall
Although one can visit Shikhar Falls all around the year. However, the ideal time would be from October to June last. We advise not to visit this place during monsoon as it rains heavily here. The water level raises during monsoonal months thus, making the area mushy which isn’t safe for trekking.
How to reach Shikhar Fall
Shikar Fall is beautifully concealed in the Kairwaan village in Rajpur. The travelers need to commence a short 1 km trek to reach the waterfall. It is located about 13 km from the city center, Clock Tower and can be easily accessed from anywhere. The waterfall can be reached by following the Rajpur road route. Available options are:
- Local transport is not available up to the fall. One can only reach here by their own vehicle or by booking a cab.
- The fall is located at a distance of 20 km from ISBT, Dehradun.
- Dehradun railway station is the nearest railhead to here.
- Jolly Grant airport closest air connectivity to here.
